Heavy Metal

Also met up with the elusive genius blacksmith Ace Rimmer who hooked me up with this Iron plate armour set. Simply gorgeous! I am only putting it on for show right now, and won’t put it on again until I am higher in p-levels. I am only p16 right now, so I think maybe when I get close to P40 I will start wearing it again (maybe the black set will be available for creation by then?). Maybe I should look into crafting to get my p-levels up, lol. It’s taking forever to level up on just battleleves and grinding.

Getting close?

I, for one, am taking this as a sign that the samurai will fo sho be showing up in the game sometime down the road. yes folks, it’s the Usagi Kabuto from the Havenstrum event. For those not in the know, Usagi means hare/rabbit, and you can see his funny face on the front of the helm. It still looks hella cool though. The creator thought that it’d be silly to use such a soft and cuddly creature for the kabutos image, when they usually show off dragons, tigers, or even majestic koi. Either way, I digs it, and it gives me hope.

Thanks Law for the helm (even though I said thanks 4 times and you never said yer welcome^^) and to Ace Rimmer for turning it to the manly black colour for me.

Footin’ it

Jeeze, this whole time I have been playing, and I haven’t left Thaanalan. Ul’dah was the only city-state I had been to. I had the wanderlust raging in me bad today, so I decided to make the trek to both Limsa lominsa and Gridania.

Limsa: I was blown away. Even with y shitty graphics on the lowest settings, this place looked very cool. maybe it was because I tired of the Ul’dah city walls, who knows. I always liked the sea, and this place had it going on. had a good time there. met up with Renshi, and he made me a bronze pickaxe and an iron saw (thanks mate ^^). I didn’t touch the aetheryte there because I forgot, and Renshi had to meet me halfway on my trek to Gridania to port me back so i had it in my teleport menu. Yeesh.

Gridania: First off, lemme say that the surrounding area to Gridania, the Black Shroud, totally smacks of Alice in Wonderland, and this isn’t a bad thing. I liked the look, and the music was very cool. being able to cross the streams and brooks on foot was also cool. The city itself was very spectacular as well, and I could totally see the ninja class implemented, with alot of folks wanting to call this place home. It had the whole “Village Hidden in the Leafs” thing going on. Good times.

Now…about leveling, lol ^^

 

Again

So, the laptop had come down with a case of the super-virus, and over the span of about 3 weeks, I tried my damndest to get rid of it. That bitch was dug in deep, and I resorted to a tactical-nuke type response: replacing the OS. I decided to take this chance to move up to 7 from Vista, and went with a clean install. Everything went good…until I installed FFXIV again.

I was getting that lame 20542 error. I circumvented it by dl’ing the nvidia driver that I was supposed to have (with all it’s cool auto-driver-finding features, 7 really sucked it up by giving me a plain ass general vid-adapter driver) and all was fixed.

It was the wifey’s b-day the other day, lest I would have been in game sooner. I am hoping to get on tonight though. See you guys, whoever is reading this ^^

By the by, that is Hiroyuki Sanada as “Ujio” from The Last Samurai above…my fav chara in that movie.

Keepin’ on keepin’ on

First off, a very big thanks to this clan we all know and love, Seraphim is by far, without a doubt, THE best clan I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of…hands down. I have never seen so many folks come together to heelp one another in a game like this, and it makes me wanna keep on playing. Sad I missed out on such much before now, but with this newfound wind in me sails, it’s gonna be a great journey.

I’d like to thank some folks for helping me get on my feet ingame (I know, lame for a clan Officer who had Alpha access to need help, but long story). Holydragoon for the splash of cash and kindly words and tips throughout this whole wobbly-knee venture. Krausus for donating me that awesome bronze gear you see above, and a huge bankroll to boot. Hulk for repairing that shield that you can kind of see in the pic above. Kai for being Kai. Caid, Setsuna, and Densetsu for answering all of my epically newbcake questions.

I logged in tonight as an R10 gladiator, and logged out an R12 glad ^^ Mind you, I have the timer to wait on for the rest of my leves that I finished, so I was purely grinding today…I hate Thistletail Marmots with a passion now, hahaha. Also, with the shield equipped, I ranked up to R7 sentinel. I am loving every bit of it.

One thing though, I picked up mining to help accommodate those who I will be fervently hounding for glad/marauder gear (ACE I am coming for you!) but I am having a bitch of a time finding nodes. I failed all 3 of my mining leves because I couldn’t find any, even with “Lay of the Land” on, and the yellow hot-spots provided by the leve. I a hoping this gets better, or that I figure out what I am doing wrong, lol.

Oh, also…Krausus’ Blackened Scale Mail is very nice. I am hoping to score one sometime down the road. I just wish they had greaves and such to match, lol.

Hacked, and back

After a hiatus of sorts (very personal reasons), I decided to get back to my roots and get back into playing the game with some drive. After uploading, I am greeted to this, a nice image of the Lafalell gil-farming ass dropping that deleted and replaced my beautiful Aoshi. To say the least, I was pissed. Sqweenix would not/will not do anything to help me bring my data back, so I guess the hiatus was a good thing, since I was still a lowbie. Anyways, it was a pain going through the initial quests and such all again, but I have a newfound drive, and purpose.

I am going to be levelling pugilist until I get Second Wind at least. I will then switch out to Marauder (can someone hook me up with an axe? For some reason Rudius doesn’t have one on their list) until Blood Bath, then back to my main of gladiator. After a while into glad, I will be switching back and forth between maruader and gladiator, all the while hoping the 2 handed weapons will be released, and more importantl, the great katana.

And oh yeah, security tokens FTW.

Finally…

So I am finally ingame…playing on my laptop whilst the rig is being developed. Might be a while now as funds have ran out, and I have only the mobo (EVGA Classified X58 3way), GPU (Evga Hydrocopper GTX480), monitor (AOCE2237FWH 22″), CPU cooler (Corsair H50) and my old PSU (Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1000w), even thoguh I might be going up to 1200w as I plan on running dual 480′s. Oh well, in time.

The learning curve ingame isn’t so bad, but I was having a hard time with battle regimen, and not being able to get out of it. When this would happen, I would just be circling the enemy taking hits, as I was in BR and could not strike. So, eventually, I would die. Frustrating. I was told to press the “G” button, and I guess I was spamming it, instead of pressing it, and letting it stack. Add that to the minimal delay I have going on (even after tuning all the graphics settings to holy-hell-why-are-you-even-trying mode) and it makes for a doozie of a time. But hey, I learn better the hard way, always have.

Looking forward to seeing where I can take this chara of mine. Hoping to Zeus that they implement my samurai.

Eventuality

Some things aren’t really getting better. I have  ordered my mobo (EVGA X58 Classified) and got a great deal on it, as well as my vid card (GTX480 Hydrocopper), but have had to suspend the build and save money until I figure out what is wrong with my car. I have oil leaks going on, oil light flickering at me, and all signs point to it coming from either my valve cover or my headgasket. The former would be easy to fix, the latter involves taking the engins apart, and would be time consuming, as well as money consuming.

My dreams of playing FFXIV are getting more and more distant…

Woes

So I am having issues with my student aid disbursement. Last semester I applied one, and was credited for two semesters worth of aid, Fall of 09 and Spring of 2010. I got two checks in the same month for both loans. Awesome. This year, I applied for loans and am currently enrolled in the Fall semester, with loans for Fall 2010  and Spring 2011. part of my loan refund was sent and is on the way to me, but the other half is still pending. The thing that gets me is it says Spring 2011. Now, have things changed, meaning I will have to wait until next semester to get it, even thoguh I haven’t even enrolled in any classes for Spring yet? Or is it just a deleayed refund disbursement? when I called earlier this month to see if things were ok with my loan status, I was told that there would be two disbursement dates, the 13th and the 24th. I am hoping that this is the case, because my rig building fund is coming out of this. If not, and I only get this one check, Aoshi1 might nto be playing FFXIV until next semester, and that fucking blows.

Simmerin’…

Seems things are just stagnating lately…not as in negativity or anything like that, more like me just stewing (for lack of a better term) in waiting for my tuition to come, so that I may build my rig, so that I may FINALLY get to play some FFXIV.

There has been a bounty of wonderful pics and movies from ingame, and I am losing out on all of it. I still have no edge on gameplay mechanics, and I heard the crafting system takes a good while to figure out a sthe learning curve is pretty big. Oh well, I guess I will have something to look forward to.

Seraphim has taken off for sure, last time I saw we had the magic number of registered members in 108 (if you know me, you know what that means). We’ve indeed had out fair share of drama and fallout, but what great clan doesn’t? We will be that much stronger for it, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but with these cats. I love Seraphim.
